Are you interested in digital signage for your business, your company, your factory or your warehouse?

Here are the 3 main elements you'll need to build your digital signage project:

  1. An adequate support
  2. An efficient digital signage player
  3. A great digital signage solution

⚡️But first what is digital signage?

The main definition is:

Digital signage is a form of electronic display for presenting information, advertisements and other messages. Digital signage (such as LCD, LED, plasma or projected images) is found in public and private environments, such as stores, hotels, restaurants and businesses. They are used as a network of electronic displays for advertising, information, entertainment and merchandising.

For us, digital signage is the future of workplace communication. It's an innovative technology that allows companies to communicate with their employees at the right place and time.

Comeen Play is our Enterprise-Grade digital signage solution that specialize in internal and operational communication for your employees. We've created a secure and robust platform for large groups, and Veolia, Google or Sanofi are among our customers.

👉 Find the right support for your need

If you have a project of digital signage or you want to start: you need a screen. The popular choice for companies is a professional display, but you can also opt for other options that suit your project, as long as it has an HDMI port.

  • Professional display: the most common choice. Many brands, sizes, resolutions and prices are available. You can showcase your Data Studio graphics on your loading dock, display an internal communication Google Slides in your break room, etc...
  • Touchscreen tablets: this is the smallest digital signage option, so it can be used in small spaces hanging on the wall or with a stand. Like to display your meeting rooms availability, put a digital kiosk to welcome visitors, etc...
  • A video wall: it's several screens placed together to form a larger screen. Each screen forms an area and the whole gives an impressive result. Not all digital signage solutions are compatible with this type of media, but we are. As Betclic and Veolia, put a video wall in your headquarters for a wow effect upon arrival.

🚀 Adopt an effective digital signage player

It's a compact PC that connects to your screen, enabling content distribution and control across all screens. It's the thing that link your screen to internet and therefore your content.

Usually, the player is connected to the monitor via an HDMI cable and plugged into a power outlet. You'll use a dashboard to access and manage your content, like in Comeen Play. Some screens, like Samsung's, embed the player directly inside.

Some players store content "locally" on the device/player itself, just like a hard drive, so there is no need for an Internet connection. For us, we recommend using a ChromeOS digital signage player, and we've even written an article on its advantages.

🔥 Choose your digital signage solution

A content management system is a management and configuration platform (CMS). It's the back-end through which you control the content that appears on your screens.

Comeen Play, is our Enterprise-Grade digital signage solution (in case we didn't mentioned it before) and it's a little more advanced than that.

You have your own user-friendly dashboard and you can create playlists with the content of your choice, you can add several users from your company to manage the content too, you have a really complete account.

→ The best thing to do is to take a look at the different functionalities offered by digital signage solutions and see which ones best suit your project. The minimum you should look for is one that allows you :

  • A broad catalog of integrations like Google Slide, Microsoft Power BI, Instagram, Youtube, etc.
  • A broad device compatibility: ChromeOS, Windows, Android, Samsung Tizen, etc.
  • An advanced user rights management
  • And ready-to-use templates for your screens

Then you should be able to take over the digital signage solution and start broadcasting on it.

In this article, we've given a brief overview of digital signage, which in reality has many more specifics than that. But we hope you've been able to get a good overview of how digital signage works and the questions you need to ask yourself when setting up a project like this.
